Comparison of the predictability of the ultimate axial strength of elliptical CFST columns using existing square and circular section-based code formulae

The elliptical hollow section has been recently included in the family of structural steel sections. This type is also used production concrete-filled tubular (CFST) members. For CFST compression members, there no specific design formulation current provisions, except code called “Technical for structures” prepared by Ministry Housing and Urban-Rural Development People’s Republic China.
